HEADLAND - Mrs. Mary Louella Tew, 90 [born about 1872], widow of Confederate Veteran Joel Pate Tew, died last night [20 June] at her home on Headland Rt. 3 [Henry county] after a short illness.
A native of Barbour County, Mrs. Tew lived in Houston County for 20 years before moving to Henry County.
She was a member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow [22 June] at 2:30 p.m. at the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. The Revs. Clifford Priest and A. B. Martin will conduct the rites. Burial in the church cemetery will be directed by Headland Mortuary.
Mrs. Tew is survived by
- two daughters,
- Mrs. R. J. Raybon, Headland Rt. 3 [perhaps Mary Ella was living here with daughter Pearl?];
- and Mrs. J. T. Mims, Ozark;
- eight grandchildren,
- 18 great grandchildren, and
- six great great grandchildren.
