Louis Lazarus, 64 [born about 1883], of Moultrie [Georgia], died Sunday [16 Feb] morning at 11 o'clock, in the hospital at that city, after a brief heart attack.
Born in Lithuania, Mr. Lazarus came to this section about 50 years ago [around 1897], and was a well known merchant. He was a member of the Valdosta Jewish Congregation [later known as Temple Israel], the B'nai B'rith [a Jewish fraternal and aid organization], and the joint Jewish Community Charity Fund.
Funeral services were to be held this afternoon [17 Feb] at 4 o'clock, with interment in the Jewish cemetery in Sunset Hill [Valdosta]. Rabbi Joseph Gallinger was to officiate.
Mr. Lazarus is survived by
- his wife,
- one son,
- Irvin Lazarus, of Albany [Georgia],
- a daughter,
- Mrs. [Ann] Lewis Garr, of Raleigh, N. C.;
- five brothers,
- Philip and
- Israel, of Quitman [Georgia],
- Will, of Sparks and
- Sam and
- Joe Lazarus of this city;
- three sisters,
- Mrs. Max Bohrman, Lake City, Fla.,
- Mrs. William Rosenberg, Jacksonville [Florida], and
- Mrs. David Michelson, Perry, Fla.
- Two grandchildren and a
- number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Sineath's Funeral Home [308 N. Patterson Street, Valdosta] has charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Louis Lazarus, who passed away on Sunday [16 Feb] at his Moultrie [Georgia] home, were held at Sineath's Funeral Home [308 N. Patterson Street] here yesterday [17 Feb] afternoon at 4 o'clock.
A large number of friends and relatives attended the services, testifying to the esteem in which Mr. Lazarus was held.
