Joe Lazarus, 67 [born about 1890], native of Russia, resident of Valdosta since 1919 and one of the city's better known business men died yesterday [3 Oct] afternoon soon after suffering a heart attack at his department store, at the intersection of Hill avenue and Ashley street.

    2. Morton Richard Lazarus, Valdosta;

    2. Mrs. Max Bohrman, Lake City [Florida],
  • and two brothers,
    1. Israel Lazarus, Valdosta and
    2. Will Lazarus, Sparks [Georgia].

Funeral services, conducted by Rabbi Gorod, were held this morning [4 Oct] in the chapel of the McGowan Funeral Home [308 N. Patterson Street, Valdosta] with burial following in the Jewish cemetery in Sunset Hill [Valdosta].

Mr. Lazarus came to this country as a young man and entered business here. He had remained here since that time.

He was a member of the Valdosta Jewish Synagogue [later known as Temple Israel] and the local Masonic order.
