Funeral services for Goodman Lazarus of 127 Halifax Street were held yesterday afternoon [1 November] from the Brown Funeral Home chapel, with Rabbi Aaron Gorbaty officiating.

Burial was in the Raleigh Hebrew cemetery.

Pallbearers were:

  • Hyman Glass,
  • Lewis Carr,
  • William Tizer,
  • I. Hurwitz,
  • Daniel Satisky, and
  • Milton Dworsky.

Mr. Lazarus died Wednesday [31 October] afternoon at Rex Hospital after a brief illness.

He came to Raleigh in 1912, and for many years was connected with Klein and Lazarus clothing store. At the time of his death, he operated a clothing store at 217 S. Wilmington Street.

Surviving are

  • his wife;
  • two sons,
    • Frank Lazarus of Miami, Fla., and
    • Walter Lazarus of Raleigh;
  • a daughter, Mrs. David Harris of Jacksonville, Fla;
  • four grandchildren;
  • seven brothers; and
  • three sisters.
