Funeral services for Goodman Lazarus of 127 Halifax Street were held yesterday afternoon [1 November] from the Brown Funeral Home chapel, with Rabbi Aaron Gorbaty officiating.
Burial was in the Raleigh Hebrew cemetery.
Pallbearers were:
- Hyman Glass,
- Lewis Carr,
- William Tizer,
- I. Hurwitz,
- Daniel Satisky, and
- Milton Dworsky.
Mr. Lazarus died Wednesday [31 October] afternoon at Rex Hospital after a brief illness.
He came to Raleigh in 1912, and for many years was connected with Klein and Lazarus clothing store. At the time of his death, he operated a clothing store at 217 S. Wilmington Street.
Surviving are
- his wife;
- two sons,
- Frank Lazarus of Miami, Fla., and
- Walter Lazarus of Raleigh;
- a daughter, Mrs. David Harris of Jacksonville, Fla;
- four grandchildren;
- seven brothers; and
- three sisters.
